I- Databases

The National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) provides its members with an extensive website of nationally recognized resources covering all content areas that a special education teacher would need to work with students with special needs. Members will have access to one of the largest, most specific special education resource databases available, all conveniently centralized in one location. This website is designed so that if you need information on a specific topic (e.g., inclusion) there will be a specific site covering numerous topics outlined for your convenience. This huge database is divided into 3 major areas:

Exceptional Children and Disability Information:This database includes thousands of specific websites for you to access every disability defined under IDEA (Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disturbance, Traumatic Brain Injury, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, Mental Retardation, Other Health Impaired (e.g., AD/HD), Orthopedic Impairments,  Speech and Language Impairments, Autism, Multiple Disabilities, Deaf-Blindness, Development Delays as well as other common exceptionalities seen in school (e.g., gifted students, bilingual students, and more)

 

Special Education and the Law:This database provides you with up-to-date information regarding all aspects of special education law. Here you will have access to all federal (e.g., IDEA, ADA, No Child Left Behind, Section 504) and state laws, as well as thousands of sites explaining these laws and how they affect you in your role as a special education teacher. This site will also allow you access to every state education department, federal agencies dealing with any aspect of disability or education, federal branches of government and much more.

 

Resources for Special Education Teachers:This all inclusive database contains over 200 specific content areas with thousands of pages of information and websites determined by special education teachers to be the most practical and sought after areas for dealing with children with special needs (e.g., classroom management, token economy, accommodations, IEP development, functional behavioral assessment (FBA), assessment in special education, early childhood and many many more).
