Summit Academy
Description
Summit Academy provides a 12-month educational program based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis for approximately 340 students ages 3 – 21. Each student’s goals are customized to address their individual areas of need. Progress is tracked daily and reviewed regularly to ensure continued progress. Our curriculum focuses on several key areas including academics, communication, domestic, self-help, vocational, social, motor and adaptive skills.
Students/Disabilities Served:
Summit Academy serves children and young adults (ages 3 – 21) with autism spectrum disorder, communication delays and disorders, hearing impairment, traumatic brain injury, multiple handicaps and other specified and unspecified neurological conditions.
Services Provided:
In addition to ABA therapy, which serves as the foundation for our educational program, Summit Academy provides Speech, Physical and Occupational therapy as outlined in a student’s individual education plan (IEP). Classroom teachers and classroom aides provide a nurturing, supportive environment to help each student reach his/her greatest level of independence. Our curriculum also includes creative arts and adapted physical education. Our staff includes nurses and an audiologist. In addition, our Behavior Support Department, staffed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts and professionals with many years of experience, plays an important role in supporting students with challenging behavior.
Summit Academy is a department of The Summit Center which offers more than 30 different programs and services to support children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities.
