Life Development Institute’s (LDI) mission is to provide non-traditional, college-capable students a practical and inclusive bridge to improve college/career readiness and success, build cultural competence, and develop personal leadership skills. Life Development Institute (LDI), located in metropolitan Phoenix, AZ, offers a fully accredited high school program as well as a summer academy for higher education capable young adults who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other learning disabilities. LDI serves individuals that thrive in a learning environment providing holistic academic and community engagement. Additionally, LDI embeds content and competencies by integrating practical college strategies, refining interpersonal communication skills, determining viable career paths, and promoting social responsibility.
Students/Disabilities Served:
To be eligible for enrollment, individuals must be-low average to gifted intellectual potential with diagnosis of LD, AD/HD or related disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, high functioning autism, and Non-Verbal LD. Students must also be free from significant psychiatric/behavioral problems that require in-patient therapeutic-type services.

Services Provided:
Day High School Program: The Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) provides an ideal transitional bridge from high school to higher education, employability and better quality of life for 11th and 12th grade students. ALL students will be provided with focused academic and transition program of instruction, which offers either a traditional academic or transitional-tracked academic diploma that focuses on practical life preparation instruction and guidance to improve social thinking and overall Executive Functioning. Real skills for real needs!
5-week Summer Program: The Emerging Leaders Summer Academy provides an ideal transitional bridge to higher education and career development for high school students or young adults. Emerging Leaders Summer Academy participants will live in the suites, NAU’s newest residence hall, located next to W.A. Franke College of Business, where classes will be held. The Summer Academy prepares participants for the next stages of education as well as transitioning into adult life using a specialized approach that harnesses the strengths of each person’s learning styles embedding diversity, cultural, and leadership skills that are essential for success in careers and higher education.
