Early Intervention Special Education Teacher

General Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Director of Early Intervention, the Early Intervention Special Education Teacher provides services to children birth to age three who are identified with a developmental delay or diagnosed condition. Early Intervention teachers provide early intervention strategies and supports in the areas of assessment, instruction, and consultation to staff and families of children age birth to three in natural environments as a primary service provider. Early Intervention teachers serve as a liaison with medical and community service providers on behalf of children with disabilities and their families.

Assignment/Location:

We are recruiting for an Early Intervention Special Education Teacher to serve our Early Intervention program. This position is full time, 185 day contract. The preferred start date for this position is April 24, 2023 - May 1, 2023, but there may be some flexibility. Essential Functions:

  • Provide formal and informal evaluations assessing functional capabilities of infants and toddlers on assigned caseload.

  • Develop and implement specific goals with measurable outcomes in the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) in conjunction with the IFSP team.

  • Maintain all Early Intervention documentation including EI state forms and written documentation of all evaluations, goals, outcomes, progress notes and communication with other providers and families.

  • Ensure compliance with timelines for EI documentation.

  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Ensure the goals of the infant, toddler, and family are met as stated in the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP).

  • Provide consultation and home programs for the families/caregivers to facilitate goals as identified in the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP).

Other Functions:

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Availability to consult for other disciplines on an as-needed basis.

  • Attend required meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold or be eligible to hold a valid Washington teaching certificate with an early childhood special education endorsement.

  • Experience working with infants and toddlers and IFSPs.

  • Experience working with families preferably in natural environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • National Board Teacher Certification.

  • Experience in the administration and provisions of early childhood special education services.

  • Teaching experience.

  • Experience training and supervising paraeducators.

  • Experience in serving students in rural or remote districts.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel within ESD 112 Special Education ESA region.

  • May be assigned to more than one building/district.

  • Physically able to perform duties of position in addition to the ability to get to a child's level, ability to bend and/or stoop.

Employment Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.

  • Driver's license and acceptable driving abstract.
