The University of North Alabama invites applications for the position of tenure-track, Assistant Professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning, & Leadership. Qualifications include: an earned doctorate in special education; a minimum of three years of successful public school experience with students who have either mild, moderate, or severe disabilities in grades K-6, 6-12, or K-12; demonstrated university teaching experience to teach undergraduate courses required for a dual K-6 certification in elementary and special education, along with online graduate courses; excellent verbal and writing skills; the ability to advise teacher education candidates; and the ability to work with P-12 students as well as P-12 schools and administrators. Additional duties shall include: university and community service initiatives; active and involved leadership role in college and university committees; and involvement with research activities. Undergraduate and graduate programs include: Collaborative Special Education K-6 and 6-12; Elementary Education (K-6); and Early Childhood (P-3). Salary will be commensurate with degree, rank, and experience. Rank is open to higher levels than assistant professor for applicants meeting the qualifications for higher rank. An earned doctorate in Special Education from an accredited university is required, ABD status will be considered; Demonstration of recent success as a special educator at the elementary/secondary school level required; Experience in and/or ability to deliver online instruction and the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses within the department required

Desired qualifications include: Minimum of five years of teaching experience in higher education is preferred; experience or interest in directing student research desired; and experience in supervision of interns in the P-12 setting desired.
