Academy of Whole Learning

Description:

Academy of Whole Learning was founded in 2003 by parents seeking a different educational opportunity after their children struggled to succeed in more traditional school settings. At Academy of Whole Learning, we take a holistic approach to educating each student, with a mission to provide a personalized growth plan integrating social, academic, and life skills for students with autism spectrum disorder or individualized learning needs. We've educated over 300 students ranging from 1st grade through 12th, and have helped families transition from academic stagnation and even regression to academic growth and personal empowerment.

Students/Disabilities Served:

Academy of Whole Learning serves individuals from ages 5-21 with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, Anxiety, and all related neurodiverse learning needs.

Services Provided:

Academy of Whole Learning provides individualized academic and social skills curriculum for each of our students. All lower and upper school classrooms have both an academic teacher and a Registered Behavior Therapist, with a 4:1 student to teacher ratio. Our Grad Ready program assists in transitional planning for each of our students as they navigate their next steps. We integrate community-based instruction and service learning into our curriculum, allowing for opportunities to engage with our community.

We also offer Voyageurs,  AOWL's Adult Education/Transitions programming for students beyond their 12th year of high school. Our programming focuses on meeting the five areas of adult transitions while also teaching students the mindsets and skills necessary to self-actualize their own growth as they develop into their most independent selves.

We further provide robust summer programming. Our Bridge the Gap Summer camp offers academic recreational, life skills and social skills programs. There are ample opportunities to explore interests, develop important skills, and become more prepared for the next level of academic challenges or to maintain skills that were gained during the school year.

Academy of Whole Learning also has an onsite clinic with expertly trained staff providing:

  • Group Counseling
  • Individual Psychotherapy
  • Intensive Behavior Intervention
  • Diagnostic Mental Health Assessment
  • Psychoeducational Evaluation
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Speech Therapy
  • Social Skills Groups
