There are four elementary schools, two K-8 schools, one middle school, two high schools, an alternative secondary school, one fully online school, and an early childhood center. Sahuarita Unified School District Student Services Department is seeking multiple Special Education Teacher/Resource/Extended Resources Teachers ranging from Kinder through 12th grade. The SUSD#30 Student Services Department is committed to providing top-notch professional development opportunities for our staff, both within and outside the district. We make sure our team stays up to date with the latest instructional practices, as well as all the relevant legal considerations. On top of that, we prioritize funding for exciting new curricular materials and top-of-the-line equipment to meet our students' diverse needs. We also offer an annual $3,000 stipend to each teacher in addition to base salary, of which, can range between $45,935.53 and $50,977.23.

Preference will be given to special education practitioners who are adept in the following areas:
IEP Development and Implementation: Ability to create, execute, and monitor individualized education plans to meet the unique needs of students.
Behavior Management Techniques: Use of strategies to manage classroom behavior and create a conducive learning environment.
Differentiated Instruction: Skill in adapting teaching methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning needs and styles.
Understanding Disability Law: Knowledge of legal requirements and regulations governing special education to ensure compliance.
Rapport Building: Ability to establish positive relationships with students to foster trust and a supportive learning atmosphere.
Patience and Empathy: Essential traits to understand and address the diverse needs and challenges faced by students.
Collaborative Teaching and Co-Planning: Ability to work effectively with general education teachers to support inclusive education practices.
Leadership and Mentorship: Skills in guiding and supporting new teachers and managing paraprofessionals to enhance team effectiveness

Salary Classification: Certified Salary Determination Chart; Starting salaries range between
$45,935.53 and $50,977.23
General Statement: Develops and implements a curriculum program consistent with district educational goals and objectives.
Essential Job Functions:
Essential functions, as defined under the American with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list is illustrative only and is not a complete listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this job class.
Serves as case manager responsible for coordinating the development, monitoring, and implementation of inclusion student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Maintains accurate and confidential records of all assigned students.
Organizes a Special Education team, comprised of all essential parties, to discuss, change and/or modify IEP’s by expatriation date or when necessary.
Observes and monitors control of students’ behavior in the classroom, playground, field-trips, lunchroom, library, school buses and other areas.
Establishes, maintains and promotes a classroom atmosphere which ensures the emotional and physical safety and wellbeing of students and emphasizes mutual respect, self-worth, self-discipline, cooperation, consideration and responsibility.
Assesses student needs and develops, implements and evaluates daily lesson plans for students to include scheduled activities and materials. Modifies instruction of program to meet the needs of each child.
Utilizes and implements classroom management techniques to maintain organization, orderliness and student safety, and a productive learning environment. Utilizes positive reinforcement to maximize desired behavior and educational outcomes.
Evaluates written materials to include written assignments and tests. Analyzes and evaluates student progress and course curriculum.
Evaluates the performance of students regarding achievements in curriculum and activities and makes necessary provisions to meet learning needs. Ensures parents and students are informed of methods of evaluation utilized in the classroom.
Develop the instructional plan for assigned students. Work with the Special Education Paraprofessional in implementing lesson plans and educational approaches of the Individual Education Plan.
Assist the regular education classroom teacher with modifications and strategies for including the inclusion student as much as practical.
Provide information, support, and communication with parents and families.
And other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A. REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Valid Arizona teaching certification; Must also have a Special Education Endorsement on their Teaching Certificate (or equivalent education and/or training),
Highly Qualified, as defined by Federal Standards, in the area in which you are to teach;
Any equivalent combination of training, education or experience that meets the minimum qualifications and state certification requirements will be accepted.

PHYSICAL TASKS
Work involves sitting for extended periods of time, moving from one location to another, reaching, stooping, bending, and holding, lifting and grasping objects.
EQUIPMENT, AIDS, TOOLS, MATERIALS
Uses projector, whiteboard, whiteboard marker, and other office or instructional equipment, such as telephones, fax-machines, computers and associated technology. May use hand tools and operate power-driven machinery, as appropriate and aligned with student programming.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Indoor classroom environment. Outdoor school campus and community environments. Contact with the public, colleagues, students and families.
CONTROL, SUPERVISION
Monitor students, volunteers, inclusion assistants, special education aides in the classroom, throughout the school campus, and in the community (as appropriate; e.g. field trips, community-based instruction).
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
