NASET Seeks Member Participation for "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer"

April 20, 2006

On April 15, 2006, Dr. George Giuliani, co-Executive Director of NASET, spoke to "Learning Matters" regarding an upcoming documentary on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and No Child Left Behind (NCLB). Learning Matters is an independent documentary production company based in New York. They produce education features for "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer" on PBS.

Currently, they are researching a story for "The NewsHour" that examines the effect of NCLB on students with learning disabilities. They are interested in hearing from teachers who have had both positive and negative experiences with the new requirements under IDEA and NCLB.

Learning Matters is interested in hearing from NASET members about any information, suggestions, or anecdotes you might be willing to share with them. Eventually, they intend to film a few classrooms on camera.

If you are interested in speaking with Learning Matters for their research please contact Christine Umali at 212-725-7000, extension 231 or cumali@merrow.org.
