2008
Members: Expanded features
The past few months have been extremely busy here at NASET. As always, we are committed to making sure that you are kept up-to-date with all of the most current information in the field of special education. As such, we have added, and will continue to add new resources, handouts, news alerts, classroom management series, hundreds of new sites to the data base, and much, much more this year.
Membership in NASET is skyrocketing. Every month, we exceed the previous month’s numbers of members who have joined our community of teaching professionals. We thank all of you for referring your colleagues to us, as we have heard from many new members that their basis for joining was “through a friend with whom I teach.”
We have many new and exciting plans for our NASET members for 2008. Currently, we are finishing up work on four new series of monthly publications for you. These series were based on your feedback to us on what you felt were some of the most significant needs of teachers. Coming soon, we will providing all members with:
NASET LD Report
The NASET LD Report is NASET's e-publication on the latest information on learning disabilities. Individuals with learning disabilities represent approximately 50% of all students receiving special education services. Therefore, it is inevitable that special education professionals will be working with students with LD throughout their entire careers. The NASET LD Report is a monthly education resource that provides NASET members with a comprehensive overview of learning disabilities. It is sent directly to all members' email accounts, so that they have immediate access to it.
NASET RTI Roundtable
The NASET RTI Roundtable is NASET’s e-publication on the latest information on Response to Intervention (RTI). RTI is a newly-identified process described in the federal special education law (IDEA 2004) for identifying students with learning disabilities. It is the practice of providing high-quality instruction and intervention matched to student need, monitoring progress frequently to make decisions about change in instruction or goals and applying child response data to important educational decisions (NASDSE, 2005). The NASET RTI Roundtable is a monthly education resource that provides members with the latest information on RTI. It is sent directly to all members' email accounts, so that they have immediate access to it.
Behavior Management Series
The NASET Behavior Management Series is NASET’s e-publication on the latest information on behavior management for students. The NASET Behavior Management Series is a monthly education resource that provides members with the latest information for special education professionals on why students do what they do and what to do when they do it. The NASET Behavior Management Series offers insight into the inner dynamics, conflicts, fears, symptoms, and tensions of students who may be experiencing behavioral difficulties in the classroom. The goal of the NASET Behavior Management Series is to help educators toward a greater understanding of issues pertaining to the psychology of children in the classroom. It is sent directly to all members' email accounts, so that they have immediate access to it.
NASET Q & A Corner
The NASET Q & A Corner is NASET’s e-publication that presents (1) some of the most frequently asked questions by members about special education and (2) answers from experts in the field on the questions addressed. At NASET, we get many questions from our members about certain areas of interest. The NASET Q & A Corner will now provide all members with the opportunities to have access to these questions, and more importantly, answers to them from professionals in the field. The NASET Q & A Corner is sent directly to all members' email accounts, so that they have immediate access to it.
